What the University can do about online harassment

If the person sending harassing messages is using a University account, the University may be able to suspend or revoke that account.

If the person sending the messages has concealed their identity, the University may be able to trace them.

If the person is sending harassing messages from an outside account, the University may be able to block messages from that account.

If the person sending harassing messages is a student or employee of the University, and the University receives a formal complaint of harassment, the University can pursue disciplinary action, and can impose sanctions ranging from a formal reprimand and record of the offence up to expulsion or dismissal.

If the messages are threatening or frightening, the University may assist you in pursuing a criminal prosecution.
